Unable to open .hlp file on network.
Hi, Actually I am facing a problem related to open the.hlp file on network. My client is on VISTA and I have entered my server name in trusted site. I am not able to open .hlp file which is available on server from client(VISTA). IfI put IP address of server in trusted site then I am able to open .hlp file. My client and server both are in same domain. Please let me know is there any other settings which also I have to do in case of server name. I received following message. Thanks with regards Vikram

Hi Vikram, what message you have encountered when trying to open hlp file by using server name? Can you add server name to trusted site and check the result?

Hi Vikram, have checked the KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917607 ? For your convenience, I'd like to quote the following related steps: How to unblock .hlp files that are stored on the Intranet on a single computer after you install the WinHlp32.exe download ==================================== 1. Log on by using an administrator account. 2. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit in the Programs list. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Continue. 3. Locate the following registry subkey, and then click it: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WinHelp 4. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value. 5. Type AllowIntranetAccess, and then press ENTER. 6. On the Edit menu, click Modify. 7. In the Value data box, type 1, click Hexadecimal in the Base area, and then click OK. 8. Exit Registry Editor. Let's check if this helps.

Hi Sean Zhu, Ifound this solution on net and tried, but still i am unable to open *.hlp file on VISTA. Although we found that if we enable " the inclusion list of low file types " in attachment managerin Group Policyand put the *.exe value in "specify low risk extensions" edit box" this problem can resolved but it has two or more issues. 1. By doing so it may be possible that all *.exe will be available on intranet including undesireableexes 2. We could not found how we apply this programmaticaly as we need to do this programmatically. If we could get othere solution than it ,would be better. waiting for your suggestion. Thanks with regards Vikram
