Unable to start W32Time service
Hi,
I'm unable to start the W32Time service on my windows 7 x64 system running on SP1.
Also one of our Hyper-V 2008 R2 SP1 nodes has similar problems.
The error I get is:
System error 1290 has occurred.
The service start failed since one or more services in the same process have an incompatible service SID type setting. A service with restricted service SID type can only coexist
in the same process with other services with a restricted SID type. If the service SID type for this service was just configured, the hosting process must be restarted in order to start this service.
At the event viewer the same error is located under event 7000
I've tried the following:
Reset the service
w32tm /unregister
w32tm /register
Checked the registry settings:
All services pointing to the ImagePath %SystemRoot%\system32\svchost.exe -k LocalService have the same ObjectName NT AUTHORITY\LocalService (username) and
ServiceSidType 1 configured(UNRESTRICTED).
So all service SID type setting for the process are the same.
When I search the web post came up about the TapiSrv service settings but this service is not running so in my opinion this cannot be the problem.
Can you please help me out to solve this problem?
Thx.

I've seen this. But as described above:
All services pointing to the ImagePath %SystemRoot%\system32\svchost.exe -k LocalService have the same ObjectName NT AUTHORITY\LocalService (username) and. So the service
w32Time is trying to run with the local service account.
When I change the account the error will change: that the serves cannot start because the shared procces is running with a different account.
The TapiSrv reg settings are as described. And this service is not running.
