Thanks. What should be adjusted on my firewall? Many Thanks & Best Regards, Hua Min

Well if you want to test if it is your firewall you could disable it for a moment, try to telnet gmail.com on port 25. If it works with your firewall disabled then you could add in an allow rule that allows traffic on port 25 to gmail.com or the ip address you specified.

No idea, I do not know for certain if gmail.com is supposed to accept telnet at port 25. Can you try to telnet to: telnet gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com 25 to see if that works? Also this article from google gives some other ports you can attempt to telnet to: Enter 'telnet smtp.gmail.com 465,' and hit Enter, or if you're using Outlook 2007, enter 'telnet smtp.gmail.com 587' instead. (Does the information in the prompt window clear? If not, please note the message that appears.) http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=78775 Furthermore, if it does not work and it should be working make sure you eliminate all hardware issues by directly connecting your computer to the modem, with no routers, firewalls or other network equipment in between. Lastly there are many ISPs and Governments around the world that block access to websites or perform a form of traffic shaping that disallows you from accessing content on the web. If you want to verify if that is the case try to use a proxy or vpn and then execute the command.

Many thanks Jaap. I also got the failures when I telnet gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com 25 or smtp.gmail.com 465. When I telnet smtp.gmail.com 587, Ive got does it mean fine above? If yes, does it mean my ISP is blocking some ports? Many Thanks & Best Regards, Hua Min

Hi, May I know the result when you disable your firewall? \>telnet **.**.**.** 25 Maybe it is probably a setting somewhere in your network. Here is an article can be referred to. Should add port number. >telnet pop.gmail.com 25 >telnet smtp.gmail.com 25 >telnet smpt.gmail.com 587 Since some ports are set as SSL, I suggest you contact Google for assistance about the gmail port settings. smtp.gmail.com >> 74.125.127.108, pop.gmail.com >> 173.194.79.108 Ivan-Liu TechNet Community Support

But I do not see you telnet it on port 25. If you can do it, I think the difference between us is not related to Gmail, right? Many Thanks & Best Regards, Hua Min
