Unidentified Network problem
Hello Microsoft. I have a problem using Windows 7 RC. I had the same problem in the Beta, too, but I thought you guys fixed it. So, 90% of the time I start my PC and Windows 7 on it, my network is "Unidentified". I found a way to make it work, by Disabling the Network in the Network Managment. I have a Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC. Using every driver, the default Microsoft one was the best. Though I don't know why it does this, as Vista and XP had not this problem! Thanks a lot, and it would be awesome if you guys would fix it in the RTM, and provide a fix until that. Adam

I have this too, with a Marvell Yukon 88E8001/8003/8010 PCI Gigabit Ethernet Controller on an ASUS P5B Deluxe motherboard.

No, I don't have a second network card. I don't even have the second port that was on the motherboard since a lightning strike last summer (and I've disabled the broken port in the BIOS, so as far as I can tell it is invisible to Windows). According to the ASUS site the 32 bit drivers for Vista are included in Windows Vista, so I would have thought they'd be in Windows 7 too. Of course that may just be ASUS washing their hands of supporting an oldish motherboard rather than an indication that the MS drivers are ideal.

I have an old Abit motherboard and it had an integrated Ethernet Card, but some years ago (I believe in summer, too) a lightning storm fried it. What a coincidence!?

It's nature's way of saying "get a UPS with surge-protection".

Win 7 32 bit sees my Marvel just fine. No problems connecting. When I tried the 64 bit RC , windows saw my adapter but could not see my Linkseys router.

Windows sees routers by showing the complete map of your Internet connection (See full map option in Network and Connection Sharing). On my computer it shows as Gateway (I know that is the router). Adam777hu , it's a common problem as I can see here. I have this problem not 90%, but 100%. Every day I have to "tickle" the network to make it work. The best solution always seems to be to manually input the IP's in the Alternate configuration on the Adapter settings.
