Unidentified connection 'local access only' wired connection! Help~!
Hello! I have had access to the internet for the past 8 months and then suddenly it stops working. I have been using my laptop with Windows Vista Home 32bit for the past 8 months. Its an HP that I bought brand new and it came installed with Vista. It had been working fine for the past 8 months until thursday after windows had installed some updates. That night when i got home from work i found myself not being able to get onto the internet with the 'unidentified network'. I have browsed these forums and have tried everything from the VISTA & WIRELESS : HOW TO SOLVE LOCAL ACCESS ONLY? and a bunch of other sources from google. i have found no solution to my problem(and i mean i've tried EVERY suggestion for the past couple days since thursday!)! As a last attempt I reset my laptop to factory condition and still does not solve the problem! I am connected to a linksys router with the model number BEFSR41. I have an Hp laptop with Vista as OS. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! I hope this helps narrow down the problem...here is the information from ipconfig /all Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6001] Copyright (c) 2006 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. I dont know if this helps but i can connect to the internet if i hook up the laptop directly to the modem and sign up using PPPoE connection. I tried taking the ip addresses of ipv4, dns, default gateway, and subnet mask while it was connected; then using those address again when i connected it back to the router. No solution though. *sob*
