Uninstall A Program taking up too much space
Hello, This may or may not relate to Windows 7. I have an old computer with VMWare 7.1 Workstation on it. In Add/Remove Program it shows it taking up 3.25 GB of space on the C drive in programs files/vmware. When I go to the program files in C - the folder does exist. When I choose uninstall - it starts the VMWare 7.1 installer, then it says it cannot finish because it cannot find a .cab file. I downloaded the installer again from VMWare, and it says it has detected a newer version and I have to uninstall it first. But I can't because 1) it is the right version according to Add/Remove and there is no way to uninstall it. I can remove it from Add/Remove Programs. But did I get the space back? Anyway to confirm it is really gone from system? Thank, V

Removing an entry from the Add/Remove program list simply removes that registry entry. By the way how would you remove it? If you want to free up space taken up by what sounds like a corrupt installion, delete the VMWare folder from your Programs directory. You should also check the Common sub-directory for a VMWare entry and delete that. Then try installing the new version. If that works, uninstall the new version which should clear out the programs disk space. theWeissGuy

Hi, It seems that the software is removed, but the data such as vmdk file is reserved. As theWeissGuy said, you should find the right folder and remove the virtual disk from your storage. In addition, Microsoft has the very limited resources about the third party program. You may contact its support team directly.
