Unnecessary Disk-check at boot-up
I placed Windows 7 on a partition with Vista Business. Every time I boot up either operating System I am ask to do a File System check. But nothing has been found. How can I get rid of that unnecessary requirement ? My computer is new and defraged often also scan disk does not reveal any problem.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager In the right hand pane, double click BootExecute. The default value of the key is autocheck autochk * * means every drive is checked for consistency. Just add /K:C at the end before *. /K switch will disable autocheck on C: drive at Windows startup. So the final value should look like this: autocheck autochk /k:C *You could access the above registry by going to start and under search program and files type regeditand hit enter

Hi, if your issue persists after changing the registry as Daniel suggested, you can move on to the following methods. Also, you can change the registry on the Vista system, it is the same registry key as in Win 7. Method 1: Using CHKNTFS utility ======================== 1. Click the Start Button, type "cmd" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search bar. 2. Right click on the search result listed upper and click Run as Administrator. 3. If you want to disable check disk on C: drive, use the following command on command prompt. chkntfs /X C: If you want to disable check disk on two or more drives, just keep on adding the drives: chkntfs /X C: D: E: This will disable check disk on C, D and E drives. 4. Restart the computer Method 2: Run a third-party tool ============================= Based on current situation, lets use a third party disk management tool to scan the error on the hard disk, since the build-in check disk tool of Windows Vista does not provide a user interface. Please download and install HD Tune Version 2.54. 1. Please save it on the computer Desktop, 2. Right click on the download hdtune_254.exe, in the right click menu, click Run as Administrator to elevate the permission. 3. Switch to Error Scan tab, and click Start to begin the scan. In the meantime, please follow the instructions on the www.hdtune.com
