It is OK. Since CPU itself shutsdown from heavy processing battery will not be affect from massive power loss. But you may want to conenct battery prior to bring to live again. I call hibernation as dog sleep, there are alert but not quite tcuked-in snoring. One possible caveat is if your computer battery is very old and does not hold power, then it may go into coma from hibernation (I haveknown such incidence some 9-10 years ago). Modern Li-ON batteries are more efficient and rugged than 5 years old Li_ON batteries.Of course, you need to know a bug in Sony Vaio that while the computer is going into hibernation or shutdown, and you locked the screen shut, then it may not reboot. Way out is re-install battery, and press start button for 30 seconds. I don't know if Sony corrected that problem, or it still remains.

When you put the computer into hibernation the contents of the memory is written to the hibernator file (hiberfil.sys). When the computer is rebooted ntldr looks for a valid hibernator file and if one is found the contents of the file are loaded back into the memory and your computer is returned the state that it was when placed into hibernation. Once the hibernator file is written to the disk there is no need to have power to conserve the hibernating state, its like any other file on disk, the file will not be damaged when the power is removed.John
