Unreadable drive...
I have a SATA drive from a Dell Inspiron laptop (Hitachi 80GB) slaved to an XP Pro SP3 desktop to run chkdsk on it because it wouldn't boot in the laptop. The drive has two logical drives: Recovery and OS (Vista). I have run chkdsk several times and it has found bad clusters, repaired some indexes and done a few other things that I can't remember, but the last time I ran it, it spent about a minute in stage 1 file verification, then it just kept repeating that file segment xxxx is unreadable. After a couple hours of that, I decided the drive is shot and want to get the clients data off of it. I tried to make an image of it with Acronis True Home Image but of course that froze up when it couldn't read the data as well. How can I repair this drive or at least get readable files off of it?Many thanks...rip1 person needs an answerI do too

Depends how import the files are, a drive recovery specialist, eg OnTrack, would probably succeeed, for a substantial fee.And once you have advised your client of that, then perhaps you can impress upon them the need for data backups
