Dear Win8ers,

I have a touch screen laptop but prefer to use Keyboard and mouse the vast majority of the time.

I have been finding Windows 8 a little annoying but very stable.

I have installed StartDock Start8 which has overcome many of my annoyances.  Each machine I install I have to reset the default applications for most file types from the Metro App to the Desktop app because the Meto Apps are too slow and interfere with my normal use of many open Windows.

However at the I am still having the following issues:

• I am finding the the Metro "Reader" application is starting at random times for no apparent reason.
• When I click on Email hyper links the Metro app comes up, I want Desktop Outlook to come up instead.

I would appreaciate any help in resolving these two issues.

Apps won't run unless you select them to run, if Reader runs randomly, you should look into what application trying to open it. May be try to change your default App to something else.

For email problem, open Control Panel , click on Default Programs , set your default programs and chose Outlook(Desktop).

If it doesn't work, then in Default Programs chose Associate a file type or protocol to a program and look for mailto: and set it default program to Outlook(Desktop)
