Unzip misconverts file size in some cases on Win 7 Ult 64 bit
I am attempting to install a .vhd for Win 7 Virt PC. The file size is 1.7 GB. When I try to use it, whether by specific Extract or by Drag & Drop, it does not work due to calculating the needed space is 5.99PB. (That's petabytes, 1,000,000 GBs).I have a workaround of running the extract on an XP machine. However, this should be tracked down and corrected as soon as possible. By GA if possible.I have a screenshot available in RTF format.System Info:OS NameMicrosoft Windows 7 UltimateVersion6.1.7600 Build 7600Other OS Description Not AvailableOS ManufacturerMicrosoft CorporationSystem NameMARTY-HP-LAPTOPSystem ManufacturerHewlett-PackardSystem ModelHP Pavilion dv9000 (GA358UA#ABA)System Typex64-based PCProcessorAMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-56, 1800 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)BIOS Version/DateHewlett-Packard F.38, 6/20/2007SMBIOS Version2.4Windows DirectoryC:\WindowsSystem DirectoryC:\Windows\system32Boot Device\Device\HarddiskVolume1LocaleUnited StatesHardware Abstraction LayerVersion = "6.1.7600.16385"User NameMarty-HP-Laptop\MartyTime ZoneUS Mountain Standard TimeInstalled Physical Memory (RAM)2.00 GBTotal Physical Memory1.94 GBAvailable Physical Memory672 MBTotal Virtual Memory3.87 GBAvailable Virtual Memory2.26 GBPage File Space1.94 GBPage FileC:\pagefile.sys

Hello,I am not very clear about your problem.Do you want to extract a VHD file from a ZIP file? If the problem only occurs in this zip file, it should be caused by the zip file itself. Thomas Lin

Thomas,I have not run into the problem generally. However, the file unzips fine on Win XP, Vista, and even Win 7 32-bit. So, it seems unlikely to be a problem with the file. However, as I have gotten around the problem and needed the pen-drive for something else, I probably cannot be of any assitance. So I will mark this as answered after you have had a while to pick this response up.Thanks,Marty

Hi Marty, The third-party problem can also interfere with unzip procedure. You can try to unzip the file in Safe Mode. If the issue persists,we can confirm that this file is not compatible with Windows 7 64 bit.Have a nice day -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thomas Lin
