Up to last night I could send and receive emails with no problem. Now this morning, can't send any at all only receive. {Husband may have fiddled with computer, but he says no...}
could send and receive emails no problem til today. Now I can receive them but when I try to send any emails they come back immediately stating: The following recipients could not be reached: [then the email address I tried to send to] 501 5.7.1 This system is not configured to relay mail from (email address removed) to (email recipient) for [IP address removed]. This all happened after husband was "working" on his email, swears he didn't do anything, but I'm not so sure... Any help? We have Outlook Express and use Pacific Online Network. Thanx!

Don't ever put your email address/public IP address in a post on a public forum or newsgroup. It will get picked up by spammers and Not Nice People. Check your smtp settings in whatever email program you are using. They were changed. The "relay mail" message means that you are trying to send email using a mail server that doesn't belong to your ISP AND/OR your outgoing port was changed. An example is if you use AT&T for your ISP. They expect outgoing email to be sent using their mail server (smtp.att.net or whatever it is) and not from some other mail server like the one provided by your web hosting company like [I-removed-the-name].net. You usually handle sending mail from a "foreign" mail server by changing the smtp port from AT&T's (in our example) SSL/port 467 to non-SSL/port 80 or port 587 or whatever your web host suggests. So it rather sounds like your husband changed something in your smtp settings - needing SSL, the outgoing port, etc.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
