Upgrade to Windows 7
I have been offered a deal on an upgrade to Windows 7 as a reward for being a beta tester. My question is will I be able to use the upgrade on a different computer. I ask as I may want to transfer the hard drive that it will be installed on into a different pc. I recently discovered that when a pc dies, the Windows OS dies with it.

johncon612,This article somewhat states that you will have to have an installed, verified genuine OS on the machine. There is much debate about this at the moment, and I don't think anyone will find the true answer until they have the upgrade disk in their hands.

John - I hate to break it to you, but that's essentially the same offer that's available to eveyone else who didn't participate in the Beta or RC. $49 for the Home Premium upgrade and $99 for the Pro upgrade. As such, you can use the upgrade on ANY PC you want - provided it has an existing Windows license. As such, this offershould be for a retail copy of the upgrade, which allows you to install Win 7 on a different computer should your old hardware die or should you choose to upgrade your hardware.
