I'm 97% sure I've managed to do this 2-3 times but normally, the mouse pointer will not activate the on-screen number pad.  Touching does of course.

So, is this even possible, using the mouse to activate the pad then enter the PIN?

It's for times when the tablet is out of reach but I have the mouse in hand.

How about your problem now? What's the type of your computer? Tablet device?

you could always use the mouse to click the circle with an arrow going through it icon (very bottom left, ease of access options) and then click the on screen keyboard option
