User Account was denied access between Vista Premium 64 bit
ERROR MESSAGES:1st window: Network Error - Windows cannot access \\computername\foldername Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click Diagnose. Details: Error code: 0x80070005Access is denied.Windows Network Diagnostics Window: "FolderName" is available but the user account that you are logged on with was denied access - Windowws cannot further diagnose the problem because network diagnostic does not know the user name and passwod that is required to connect to the shared folder. Make sure you typed the path correctly and you have permission to access the shared folder. If you are trying to access the shared folder with a user name and password that is different from what you used to log on to this computer, ensure that you have entered them correctly. Click for more information about permission. After 2 days of seaching TechNet, the internet, HP phone support, Sony phone support, and local computer experts, my issue has not been resolved. I have set up a network group with the same name "Workgroup" between 3 computers: #1 Vista Premium 64 bit w/SP1, #2 Vista Premium 64 bit w/SP1, and #3 XP Professional w/SP2. #2 can see and access #1 & #3#3 can see and access #2 & #1however, #1 can see and access #3, but only see and NOT access #2All computers have different login names and different passwords. I have gone into the folder permissions to allow Everyone to access the file, yet #1 still cannot get into the designated shared folder.I have unchecked an area about UAC in User Accounts. I have also allowed file sharing and public filesharingwith and without the password through the "Network and Sharing Center". I do not want to use the public file sharing ... I want only the one file tree I have designated.I have tried to go into manage passwords from the User Accounts menu titled "Manage your network passwords" because I am not even prompted to enter a user name or password. I then get the Stored User Names & Passwords then Stored Credentail Properties, where I am unable to even choose "A Windows logon credential", forcing me to define "A Web site or program credential." I have also gone into the File - Properties - Security - Advanced Tab - Effective Permissions - Select ... and my other computers are not visable or accessible to define in this area. So, I need some help getting this #1 Vista Premium computer to not only view the #2 computer (which is does now), but to also access the files. Can any one help? This is most perplexing, as one Vista comnputer is networking just fine with all the same configurations. Could this be a computer manufacturer issue? Both Vista machines are by different companies. Many thanks!

Hi, Thank you for posting. From your post, I know that the #1 Vista Premium 64 bit w/SP1 failed to access the share on the #2 Vista Premium 64 bit w/SP1. If I misunderstand your concern, please feel free to let me know. Firstly, may I know if just one share folder on #2 computer failed to be accessed or all of them failed? Regarding the error 0x80070005, it means "access is denied". Commonly, this can be caused by the incorrect permission settings. Based on my research, I would like to suggest that trying the following to narrow down the issue: 1. Check both Sharing and Security settings on the share folders Properties, and make sure that you have assigned the Full-Control permissions to Everyone. If the object Everyone doesnt exist, please add it manually. 2. You can disable the sharing of the target and share it again with the default settings. To configure the share, you can refer to this: File and Printer Sharing in Windows Vista http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx 3. Just as a test, you can create a new user account on the #1 computer and logon this account to access the #2s share. Hope this helps. Thanks.Nicholas Li - MSFT
