VDS Basic Provider Error
I have a new-build machine running Win7 64-bit Ultimate and on each and every boot I get the same error in the Windows>System log:
VDS Basic Provider event ID 1
Unexpected failure. Error code: D@01010004
This error is logged three times in quick succession. Although I've searched extensively, I am unable to find anything that interprets the particular error code. Can anyone help?

No, it's a straightforward install on a desktop so although I'd spotted the kb article about Hyper-V I'd discounted it. Thanks for the reply though.

Hi,
Have you installed any virtual drive or any disk management software before the issue occurred? If so, please perform a
Clean Boot to check the result.
However, if the issue occurred when buying the new machine, I suggest contacting the manufacture to examine the issue.

Hi Niki,
The machine does run Intel's RST, but that was installed by the manufacturer. Good idea to try a Clean Boot though.
Regarding support from the manufacturer, Dell haven't been exactly stellar on this issue so far. Bearing in mind that the machine logged this error on the first boot after it ws delivered, suggestions that "it must be something you've installed" and to "restore
the machine to its original state" aren't exactly helpful...

Hi,
Since the computer only installed Intel RST, please update the driver to the latest version.

Also let me know if the issue occurs in Clean Boot and Safe Mode.

Hi again, Niki,
The machine is already running the latest Intel RST driver.
Something odd has happened though: at each boot since last Sunday (13th) the error has not been reported. The last changes to the system were Windows Updates on 10th Feb, so I have no idea why the issue has suddenly stopped. My guess is that it's just
as likely to start again, but until it does further diagnosis will have to wait.
Thanks for your help so far, and I'll post back if there are any further developments.
