Validate settings upon exit
Wondering if someone from MS or an MVP can tell me what "Validate settings upon exit" actually does? I've done some searching around the web and technet and haven't landed anything. I'm assuming it does a ping and perhaps a name query but perhaps it does more- like attempt to talk to msn.com. Thanks in advance!JasonJason Yates

The option is related to DNS Server IP validation behavior. The DNS client has extended the DNS Helper Class in Windows 7 to detect when a DNS Server IP has been set incorrectly (or has become invalid next time the properties examined). This is to ensure that: • An administrator setting the DNS Server IP for dynamic issuance is able to validate that the value is correct. • An administrator or end-user statically setting the DNS Server IP can validate whether this value is correct. The TCP\IP Properties UI now contains a validation wizard which is disabled by default. This validation includes the DNS server addresses. To invoke NDF (Network Diagnostics Framework) from the TCP/IP Properties page, select the check box for "Validates settings upon exit". Thanks, Novak
