I have just recently purchased new Toshiba Tecra P5 Laptop PC with the Santa Rosa Intel Chipset, 2GB memory, 160GB HDD. I have installed Windows Vista Ultimate Edition 32 Bit and extremely happy with it. The laptop is connected to the Windows Domain (Windows Server SBS2003 Premiumwith all related Vista patches installed), via wireless network (Intel 4965AGN hardware in laptop). Windows Vista is alsofully patch to date. I am noticing that on every single boot up, Windows Vista is extremly sluggish and takes a long time to boot up (around 10 minutes). Upon some investigation, I have noticed that the wireless connection is consuming all available wireless bandwidth (130Mbps connection to a Netgear WNR834B Wireless Access Point))and if left alone, will turnover around 27GB of data received (yes, that is Gigabytes, not Megabytes)in around45 minutes or so. If I turn off the wireless card viathe physical switch on the laptop for a few seconds after a few minutes of booting up, then turn it back on, then the massive data activity stops, and the data received is of normal activity and the laptop PC is very responsive. I have a similar issue with an XP client laptop on my SBS 2003 R2 Premium box, but I suspect it's related to synchronisation of Documents with the base User profile associated with the laptop. (If you set a high use quota and then synchronise My Documents it increases the time to secure sign-on (though the main delay occurs AFTER you enter the user profile). On XP it also synchronises on log off and this is an "unintelligent" check all files affair. If this helps great ... though it may be another issue Martin
