Very pleased with Windows 7 beta
Kudos to the Windows 7 team! I love the differences in the UI (taskbar changes, personalization, configurability, etc.). More importantly the O/S has worked flawlessly on a PC that I had nothing but problems with on Vista. (Asus P5NSLI Mobo, E6400 Core Duo CPU, 6 Gb RAM, (2) 500 Gb SATA HDs). I had tried both 64-bit Vista (drivers not available) and 32-bit (random system freezes) and was regretting that I'd redone my system. I had briefly run Windows 7 using Sun's Virtual Box under Vista-32 and was intrigued, but the system problems kept me from wanting to invest more time. Given that the Vista system was not reliable, I figured I'd setup the PC with Windows 7. So I reformatted the drive, loaded the 64-bit version of Windows 7, and have now loaded most of my day-to-day software. It might be beta, but I have had almost no problems. So far, this is a worthy replacement for XP! As one who's been inclined to be critical of this century's O/S initial releases, I'm looking forward to the product's release.

I agree, craigjh: I'm very pleased indeed with Windows 7.As it happens, I'm one of the few people on the planet who genuinely prefers Vista to XP (my Vista installation has been utterly rock solid for two years). And now I prefer W7 to Vista. OK, I've noticed a couple of bugs (reported), and have made several suggestions to Microsoft about the new UI, but that is absolutely par for the course for a beta.Personally I can't wait for it to go RTM. I'll be waiting to buy it.Thack
