Very weird sleep/wakeup problem (FN-keys work/Win function not)
Hello!I have a very weird problem.Hybrid sleepis activated but doesn't properly work when I select sleep through the start menu. The notebook goes correctly into sleep mode, but when I disconnect the power for a short moment and then try to boot again, the system tries to restore the previous state but keeps hanging with a black screen and a white blinking cursor. This only happens when I go into sleep mode through Windows start menu. When I press the notebook function keys, the previous described procedure works without problems. So, shouldn't the two ways to go into sleep mode do exactly the same? What can I do to make it properly work?I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit installed. Thanks in advance and best regards!

hi, you can refer to the following information to check the difference between Hybrid sleep and Sleep. Hybrid sleep is designed primarily for desktop computers. Hybrid sleep is a combination of sleep and hibernateit puts any open documents and programs in memory and on your hard disk, and then puts your computer into a low-power state so that you can quickly resume your work. That way, if a power failure occurs, Windows can restore your work from your hard disk. When hybrid sleep is turned on, putting your computer into sleep automatically puts your computer into hybrid sleep. Hybrid sleep is typically turned on by default on desktop computers. Sleep is a power-saving state that allows a computer to quickly resume full-power operation (typically within several seconds) when you want to start working again. Putting your computer into the sleep state is like pausing a DVD player: The computer immediately stops what its doing and is ready to start again when you want to resume working. For more information, checkWhat is Hybrid Sleep and Differences with Basic Sleep Mode in VistaI suggest you just disable Hybrid Sleep. Hybrid Sleep takes longer or slower than basic Sleep due to the fact that it will need to save memory state into hibernation file as it was going into hibernate before actually going into sleep. Thanks for replying!I know the difference between hybrid sleep and normal sleep. I would like to keep hybrid sleep because it's very useful. Right now I also use the notebook mainly plugged in.The basic sleep mode and hibernate both work without problems. Why does hybrid sleep not work? That's what I don't understand.

Got it, I do understand your concerns. First, Please run the command powercfg.exe /a to check if Hybrid Sleep was listed as support. 1. Click Start, please type CMD (without quotation marks) in the Start Search bar and right click on the cmd.exe choose Run as administrator 2. The CMD command prompt windows will appear 3. Please type the following command and press Enter powercfg.exe /a Second, please check the power settings to make sure the Fn-key was set to Sleep or Hibernate. 1. Click Start, type Power Options in the Search box and press Enter to open Power Options. 2. Click the "Change plan settings" on your current preferred plans selection. 3. Click the "Change advanced power settings" link. 4. Look for the "Power buttons and lid" in the menu. 5. Check the Sleep button action. Is it Sleep or Hibernate? For more information, please refer to the following link: http://www.janleow.com/life/windows-vista-sleep-hibernate-shutdown-suspend.html Third, please disable and re-enable Hybrid/Hibernate mode by: Powercfg /h off Powercfg /h on For more information, please refer to http://www.janleow.com/life/missing-hibernation-hybrid-sleep-windows-vista.html Have a nice day!

Thanks Nina for your assistance!Powercfg /asays that Standby (S3), Hibernate and Hybrid Sleep is available. Standby S1 and S2 is not supported. The actions for the lid and the sleep buttons are set to Sleep only the power button is set to shutdown. These are the standard options.Disabling and re-enabling Hybrid/Hibernate mode as you suggested unfortunately didn't work either.Best regards!
