Virtual PC The application-specific permissions settings do not grant local activation permission for the COM Server Application.
Trying to load a vpc vm from a service. Getting the error in the title. Tried to modify security setting in component services, but settings for Virtual PC are grayed out.Now what? Thanks.

Please clarify some questions first. What's the version of the Virtual PC are trying to run?Is the VPC installed on your local machine or on a server? Which component service did you try to modify? Generally, to grant the user permissions to start the COM component, you can change the permission in the registry, you can also refer to the methods in KB899965. I hope this can help you. John

Windows Virtual PC (on windows 7). the latest release available I believe.I'm passed this issues , but have new issues. It was Virtual PC.. I got the security on fixed.I now have a vbscript that will launch the VM. And I have a Windows Service that will launch the VM (through that Script) If I kick if off manually, but only if I'm logged in at the time. If I just reboot the machine, the automic delayed service will attempt to start my VM, but it just hangs. I've tried adding a 5 minute delay and it does not help.Thank you.

I am glad to hear your initial issue is fixed, can you share your solution with us? In that case, more people can pass the trouble. As your new issue, it is more related to the script, I recommend you to open a new thead in the Scripting forum for a solution. Good luck!John

Still have an issue that WVPC won't start a VM unattended. I have to be logged in.But to be able to modify WVPC in Component Services I had to go to the Regestry (regedit) and give the administrators group ample rigths to Virtual PC1. GO TO REGEDIT AND FIND THE KEY FOR VIRTUAL PC Application (FROM ERROR IN EVENT LOG)2. GO TO PERMISSIONS AND ADVANCED AND CHANGE OWNER TO ADMINISTRATORS GROUP AND AND GRANT ADMINISTRATOR GROUP FULL CONTROLThen to get rid of the above error.3. NOW GO BACK TO COMPONENT SERVICES AND ALLOW ADMINISTRATOR LAUNCH UNDER SECURITY
