Unlikely that Microsoft Security Essentials was "Removed" necessitating reinstall, more likely it simply temporarily disabled it. Care should be used when this type of malware infection occurs. Most likely, you got a pop-up from the infection, and you clicked it to close the pop-up. The bad news is that by clicking to close it, you allowed the infection to install. This is how they fool you into installing their malware.1. Whenever you encounter one of these fake virus pop-ups while browsing, immediately do (a) or (b) below:a. Do not touch any browser window to close it or browse further. Immediately press Ctrl+Alt+Del (Ctrl+Shift+Esc in Vista or Win 7) and bring up Task Manager (Application tab) and end all instances of iexplore.exe (if using Internet Explorer) or the executable for the browser you are using. Do this by right-clicking on the entry(s) and select END TASK.b. Go to Start and Shut Down the PCwithout touching any browser windows.2. Restart the PCy booting into "Safe mode with Networking" by tapping the F8 key and selecting this mode using the arrow keys then Enter. Once the PC is restarted, go to Control Panel, Internet Options, and delete all temporary Internet Files and cookies. If you are using an another browser, open the browser settings to do the same - delete the local cached files and cookies.3. Also, in Internet Options under Connections select LAN Settings and ensure that the box for "Use proxy server for LAN is unchecked.4. Then try the OneCare safety scanner http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm and MBAM again, not necessarily in this order.
