Vista Hidden Administrator (already activated) Permission Problem
Hi All, I've inadvertently denied the hidden Administrator permission to edit security settings on my c: drive. I was changing security for all users and didn't notice that the administrator (hidden that I activated) was also highlighted. Now, before I made changes to the settings I created a restore point but I cannot restore this. Something I suspect is as a result of the permissions. Is there any way I can reinstate the hidden administrator full access permissions before I resort to restoring my computer to its factory settings ie system recovery? I want to avoid this process as it will be very time consuming to reinstall all by software. I'm not sure if this is a repeat post but an initial search on this forum did not find anything. Please help as I'm desperate. Cheers

What version of Vista? And, how and where were you editing permissions?[If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. By marking a post as Answered, or Helpful you help others find the answer faster.]

Hi Chris,I'm running Vista Home Premium and this is what I did:1. I activated the "hidden" Administrator then logged on as this administrator.2. I then navigated to windows explorer and right clicked my c: drive and selected properties3. I then proceeded to the security tab and removed all user permissionsI some how then ended up with just read access to my drive and my other users cant logon to windows. That's about as much as I can remember.Hopes this helps.

Hi DFT,I tried running the fixit application but it won't run which I suspect has got something to do with writing to the c: drive permissions. If all else fails I will be formatting my drive tomorrow.Cheersjafo_1
