Vista PPTP & L2TP installation issue
Hi Guys,My vista VPN connctions started showing up as dialups for no reason. I dida bit of searching and followed the solution suggested herehttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itprovistanetworking/thread/a825640e-9be2-4ce1-8776-ad2915d5bdbdThe devices uninstalled fine but when it gets to the stage of installing the devices:Netcfg -l %windir%\inf\netrast.inf -c p -i MS_PPTPNetcfg -l %windir%\inf\netrast.inf -c p -i MS_L2TP I get the error message: >netcfg -l c:\windows\inf\netras.inf -c p -i MS_L2TPTrying to install MS_L2TP ... ..failed. Error code: 0x80070002.I am not sure what the problem is but I can not establish any VPN connections from my machine which is quite frustrating. Why can windows not automatically detect these drivers and install them?? I am running Vista 32bitAny help would be appreciatedCheers!

Are you sure you were in an elevated command prompt? Also on your windows drivers settings do you have it set to prompt or not to installed unsigned drivers.Funny thing is that I ran these steps and it came back with an unsigned driver prompt but after installation in Device manager the wan miniport pptp driver was in fact signed by Microsoft.

I am on the sam e dead end now, except I am with Windows 7...Any development on this problem? How did you resolve it?The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it. Michelangelo
