Vista Premium Home does not sleep after Windows Home Server Connector installation
This is a Dell XPS 410. The installation works in every way except power management. Connects, backsup, shares...it all works. But the computer will not go into sleep mode anymore. Tried changing power policies butVista ignores any changes. Searched for issues, but either I'm the only one having this problem or WHS doesn't have a large enough client base to generate questions. I have to say that I also have a Dell laptop with Home PremiumthatWILL go to sleep when you close the lid. Would have liked to ask Microsoft but that would cost $60. That doesn't seem right. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Ric, Thank you for the post. First I would like to confirm if the issue began to occur right after installing Windows Home Server Connector. Can the computer enter Sleep before? Currently, I suggest manually entering Sleep by clicking the Sleep button on the Startup menu. Whats the result? If the issue persists, the cause can be caused by the following factors: 1. Third-party programs conflicts. 2. Incompatible display card driver. 3. BIOS is not up-to-date. Based on the current situation, if you have third-party power management program, please uninstall them. Then lets perform a Clean Boot to test the issue. Clean Boot ======== 1. Click Start, type "MSCONFIG" (without the quotations) in the Search Bar and Press "Enter" to start the System Configuration Utility. Note: Please click Continue if the "User Account Control" window pops up. 2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray). 3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK". 4. Restart the computer and test the issue. Note: Clean Boot is a troubleshooting step. If some programs have been disabled, we can re-enable them later. If you see the System Configuration Utility, check the box of "Don't show this message" and then click "OK". Please test this issue in the Clean Boot environment., if the issue disappears, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue. Hope it helps. The offending Startup item is WMPNSCFG.EXE. I turned everything off as you suggested. Then started turning them on one at a time. The problem coincided with the installation of WHS. I had moved my music files to the server and rebuilt the library in WMP.Thanks for your help.
