I am at a loss. I have two Vista workstations and an XP workstation setup. They connect to a Server 2003 R2 box and a Server 2008 box for file shares. Downloading files from the servers I get good transfer speeds (not great just good, about 10 MB down on a gigabit connection). Uploading to the servers I get terrible speeds from the Vista boxes (around 250 KB - 1 MB max). I have tried the numerous fixes listed on the net regarding these issues. None work. However switching the network adapters on the Vista boxes to 100 full duplex seems to correct theissue with the uploads. I get 10 MB uploads after switching to 100 full duplex. Here is a little more information about the setup ... Vista and XP boxes connected to one gigabit switch which is connected to an internet router (with gigabit ports). Server 2003 and R2 boxes are connected to a different gigabit switch which is connected to the same internet router. All systems are fully patched. Patch cables have been swapped out with success. Any ideas on why just the file transfers to the servers are having issues and not from the servers?

The problem has been resolved but I still can not explain what happened. Out of the blue file transfers were back up to 10 MB+ on the Vista machines. I'm not sure why the file transfers to the serverswere capped at 1 MB a second maximum. I did find out why the transfers weren't any faster than 10 MB though. The wall jack that the Vista/XP switch was plugged into needed repunched. That switch wasn't connecting to the internet router at gig speeds. It was negotiating 100 MB instead. I'm not sure if Vista sensed the issue on the switch and for some reason capped uploads because of that? The XP machine did not though. I still can't explain why the upload transfer speeds just started working again on the Vista boxes as well.
