Vista computers cannot access each other
Hi. I have two computer running Vista. One is wired. One is wireless. Neither one is able to share files with the other. When the computer name is clicked under Network, the following message is provided: Windows cannot access...However, the three XP computers I have can access both Vista computers and are able to share files. Also, a printer is networked through the wired Vista computer and the wireless laptop did find it's the printer and is able to print.Network Discovery: OnFile Sharing: OnPublic Folder Sharing: On (anyone can access, open change and create files)Printer Sharing: OnI have tried disabling all anti-virus programs and firewalls, but still they cannot communicate. I am able to ping one computer from the other. Does anyone know what is going on here? Thanks for your time, Lisa

Hi Lisa, Could you please capture the exact wording of the error message for us? Meanwhile, please perform the following steps and check the result: 1. Add the same account and password to both Windows Vista machines. 2. On the share folders, grant appropriate permission to that account. 3. Logon with that account and access the share folder. Ive also included the following article for configuring file and print sharing in Windows Vista for your reference: File and Printer Sharing in Windows Windows Vista http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx Hope it helps.
