Vista will not get IP address from Modem
Hello all,
I have been using the Qwest Advanced Networking Modem 2-Wire 2700-D for the last year with my home computer which is Vista run. I use the yellow ethernet cable to connect - the connection quit on me on Friday July 4th. I connected my laptop to the ethernet cable and get on the internet and got the IP address at the command prompt when I ran IPCONFIG - HOWEVER, Vista will not recognize the ethernet plug OR the USB for my modem. I know I am missing a small something but cannot figure out what I am missing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Ensure that you have the network drivers in the device manager. A lot of ISP's rely on static IP's for their clients and hence you might have to call your ISP and request that. It might also be that you do not have the right gateway/DNS servers to provide internet connectivity(calling your ISP should fix that as well) . Also when you say it does not recognize your ethernet, do you see that your network cable says thats its still disconnected or does it come up with limited/no connectivity. Also please run ipconfig/all from the command prompt and let us know what it is reporting.
