Vista wireless
I am new at running vista with wireless and have a problem. It connects just fine and stays connected but when it goes into stand by or I manually disconnect the internet, it will not reconnect about 90% of the time. Everytime I close the lid and it goes into hiberation, it will not connect properly. I always have to restart the computer and then it will connect. I contacted my internet carrier, Time Warner and Toshiba whom I bought the computer from Christmas with Vista loaded. They tell me it's a Vista problem and I need to call them. I did and they want to charge me a fee to fix something that is there problem. Can someone out there help me or had this same problem? I would appreciate input, it seems that we don't have any help from vista folks. Thanks

I am assuming that you are wirelesssly connected to the Net via a router.Have you tried to set Vista to automatically connect to your network (SSID) whenever your network in range? By the way, I personally own 3 Toshiba laptops with different models. Regards.

Thanks for replying. Yes, I am working with a router. You referred to getting Vista to connect to your network (SSID) whenever your network is in range. Is the following where you do that? Control panel, network and sharing center, manage wireless networks. Right click on network link, configure, advanced, click on SSID and in right box comes up "any"? And then apply? I am not sure if this is what you are talking about. Will wait to see if I have found the right one or not. Thanks again for your help...I enjoy my computer and when Vista works, it's okay but when it doesn't....well I want to pull my hair out.

Yes. I would select/check on the box (rectangular shape) to connect to "whenever this network is in range".If your network is not broadcasting then I would select/check an additional box "Connect even if the network is not broadcasting".

I have 4 different versions of Windows OS running on 4 piecesof equipment. Win 98/2000/XP and Vista. I honestly think the combo of home wifinetwork connection and DSL/Cable serviceisnot thatreliable. My home network gives me problems just like others' .. My home network works fine for days then all of a sudden I ran into issues of intermittent connection and getting dropped off too.Regards.
