W7 v7600 - Networking
this workstation was set up as a member of a domain network - except this ws does not show up as a computer on the network. Prior to this clean install, this machine was operating unter W7 RC, same network, same domain, etc. and all worked fine! Then a clean install of the final release of W7 and while all seems ok on the workstation and while the ws does show up in the Active Directory as a "computer" and also on the DNS Server and equally on a separate WSUS server, the workstation is not at all visible from any other workstation on the net.Any suggestions where to look? I am out of ideas at this time

Hi, Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP: 1) Go to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections. 2) Right-Click on the connection and choose Properties. 3) Find Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Version 4 in the list. 4) Click Properties, and then click Advanced. 5) On the Advanced TCP/IP settings windows, go to WINS tab. 6) Under NetBIOS setting, click Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP, and then click OK. 2. Please go to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings to ensure that Network Discovery and File and Printer Sharing are enabled. 3. Go to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections, right click on the NIC and select properties. In the opened window, please ensure the following items are checked: File and Printer Sharing for Windows Networks Link-Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) Responder Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper I/O Driver Hope this helps. Thanks.Nicholas Li - MSFT
