WAN Miniport IKEv2 connecting forever
I am trying to setup a vpn to a company network. I have windows 7 64 bit and this is running on a Hyper-V virtual pc. I have installed the vpn connection via a tool called SmoothTunnel which has processed some certificates I was provided but in the end it produced a standard vpn port in the network adapters. When I come to connect I get normal behaviour and it comes up Verifying username and password which lasts forever, if I cancel at this point, the connection is permanently "Connecting" and so I don't have the option to disconnect or check status (they are both greyed out) - it seems the only way to reset it is to restart the computer (possibly logging out will do the trick, not tried that). It seems quite strange, I would have thought it would timeout or something or at least there would be a way to terminate the conection if it isn't authenticating correctly etc..Does anyone have any ideas on a) how I can cancel the attempt without restarting and b) why this might never be completing the connection either successfully or with an error?

Hi, May I know if you VPN server is a Windows Based server? At this time, please try the following to check the issue: 1. Please create an IKEv2 VPN connection and check if you can establish the connection. 2. Boot the system to clean boot and see how it works: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 If the issue persists, please also capture a netmon trace for our further research: 1. Download the Microsoft Network Monitor 3.3. 2. Install the network monitor on a Windows 7 or Windows Vista computer and start to capture. 3. Establish the VPN connection. 4. When the issue occurs, just stop capturing and save the netmon trace files to check the related network activations. You can also upload the trace file to Windows Live SkyDrive and share its URL with us. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT
