WM_XBUTTON messages gone missing
Greetings,
I am running Windows 7 Pro x64.
When an application, either 32 bit or 64 bit, is running as administrator, the WM_XBUTTON messages (up, down, dblckick) and the WM_APPCOMMAND message are not delivered to the application. If the application is run with normal user privileges, these messages
are delivered. I have confirmed this behavior with Spy++. I initially tested a custom application, and then repeated the results with applications such as Windows Media Player and Windows Explorer. Note: there are other messages being dropped… I have
not tested for all such messages.
Is this a known or expected pattern? Is there a way to exhort Windows to send all messages?
It would be nice if I did not need to run my custom application with elevated privileges… but I do.
Thanks, in advance, for any advice.
