WPA wireless - upgrade laptop from WEP to WPA
I have an old Toshiba Tecra9000 laptop running XP and want to use it on my wireless home network. Thenetwork uses WPA security and the tecra only has WEP. How and what do I upgrade. I was going to start with service pack 3, since mine has service pack 2. But if SP2 can use WPA, I would prefer that.1 person needs an answerI do too

Service Pack 2 supports WPA. You might have to install an updated driver program, with WPA support, for the computer's wireless adapter.Microsoft no longer supports Windows XP with Service Pack 2. To get new security updates, install Service Pack 3.Boulder Computer Maven Microsoft Most Valuable Professional

Although SP2 does supports WPA, are you sure that you aren't referring to WPA2? SP3 supports WPA2 or you can get a WPA2 upgrade to XP SP2 Here:"Description of the Wireless Client Update for Windows XP with Service Pack 2" < http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917021/ >HTH, JW
