Wanting to know about Windows 7
Hello everyone, I was wondering if the people that have tested Windows 7, developed Windows 7, or had anything to do with hands on with Windows 7 could give me your feedback on it? I am studying to be an IT Tech and I am trying to learn as much as I can about Microsoft Windows franchise. I have windows Vista on all of my PCs now and I was thinking about upgrading to Windows 7, and I was even going to pre-order it, but I do not want to pre-order it until I know more about it!! So if you would please, could you give me your reviews of Windows 7 and also... does anyone know if you can order Windows 7 will the license cover you putting it on your laptop and Desktop at home??? Because 400.00 is expensive just to have the same thing on two PCs??? Please only people that have actually had hands on with Windows 7 and can actually give detailed reviews!Jordan R. Hi Jordan,I worked on Windows 7 and I think it's great, but I'll save the full reviews for other people :)As with previous releases, it's one machine per copy. The only difference is with the Family Pack: http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/windows7/archive/2009/07/31/windows-anytime-upgrade-and-family-pack-pricing.aspxIf you're a student, you should also see if your school participates in the MSDN Academic Alliance program. The schools usually offer students heavily discounted Microsoft software through this program (some schools limit it to people in certain programs, other schools make it available to everyone).http://www.msdnaa.net/search/schoolsearch.aspxHope this helps,MarkWant to know if your hardware will work on Windows 7? Well I'm not much of writer or blogger or an expert for that matter but this guy is here http://www.winsupersite.com/win7/.In my opinion it's not much different from vista except for the enhanced taskbar which some people really seam to like. For me the new taskbar is overloaded and I prefer the older style , but I don't run very many windows at once and if I did maby it would be a different story. It has a brighter theme than vista which people and myself thought to be rather gloomy. It's said to be faster than vista but I clocked a large file on the 32 bit on both 7 and vista and it was a tie. For opening windows 7 may be a bit faster.More of it's UIs are replaced with the newer stylesthan the ones you see on xp and some that remain on vista. Drivers have bean an issue and the issue has usually bean resolved but sometimes the average joe wouldnotknowwhat to do when windows 7 does strange things with drivers. There has bean a lot of fuss over features thathave bean removed like drive disk space in the status bar, so now there's no real reason to call it a status bar I'd say, there's always the details pain which takes up space with no real use. It has some strange behavior for example every window you open is the same size and position as the last one you close. The ability to detach toolbars is gone and I miss this. One good thing is the ability to drag and drop items to the command window is back. Sleep and hibernation are an issue now being resolved due to feedack but I have had no issue on my system with this. A big thing that peoplehave beanloosing their lunch over is that theclassic start menu is no longer availible. Pinning items to the taskbar does not work quite as well with seven compared to vista and the impressive xp which I am a fan of. 7 has a more restrictive file system and registry and is like a concerned mother telling you to wear a helmit every time get on your bike and pedal but I have gotten around it.From what I can tell but don't take my word for it because I merely use computers is windows vista and 7 are so closley related that 7 is actually a refined version of vista. You gain a little speed but not much, you gain an enhanced taskbar but lose lots of other things while your at it. If you have vista there isn't a real nead to upgrade to 7 becouse there almost the same from what I can tell and your hardware and software is bound to be more compatible with vista.I you want to udate your computer from xp than you might consider 7 over vista. If you want to upgrade and are worried about migrating to 7 it's not diffecult to learn becouse it operates nearly the same as vista.Help this hopes, Dave

Hi JordanHere are a few links that explain the enhancements and other differences introduced and changed in Windows 7 from previous versions of Windows. Mark Russinovich: Inside Windows 7- Going Deep Another excellent resource is Engineering Windows 7there are over 60 articles there, written by the Windows 7 Beta Team members, that describe most of the major changes in W7, including the reasonsabout why these changes were made. And then there is always the Windows 7 Technical Library Roadmap (RC)that has a ton of information if you are technically oriented. From what I have heard, Win7 runs a lot faster than Vista does, but still can't top XP. It runs nice on my P3 test PC with 512 MB of ram, 665 MHz, something that Vista probably couldn't do without the speed of the system at a crawl. Point is with how slow Vista is and the improvements in performance is win7, why wait to upgrade!Hello!
