I just installed the vista rc1 myself. Windows firewall may be your problem. Once I shut it off, for just a few minutes while I attempted to let windows 'find' the xp machines. Then they showed up on the network. I turned the windows firewall back on, and they are now accessable, from vista to xp, but not from xp to vista. I'm still workin on that. Also, there is a "public" and "private" network setting on vista that I don't full understand, but that may be part of your problem. Good Luck Kurt

Vista and XP use different networking protocols. You can't see XP machines from vista unless you do what I have pasted in below. Watch out for third party firewalls. Disable them and use the windows firewall. try this: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=70582 installer on your XP machines reboot everything, and it should work. It did for me. This should be on the front page of the New York Times!

d482694, the only thing the LLTD responder does is to allow vista to place the xp computers on the map. It does not solve networking problems! Without the reponder, the xp machine will simply show as Other devices in network center.Besides the installer will only work on english versions of XP. Why a network responder should be language dependent beats me.........
