What is required in order to connect to a windows 7 computer network share over a VPN tunnel ?
We recently installed a desktop computer at or disaster recovery center. We can RDP to the server but we cannot connect to it using \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. We have some windows 2003 servers located there and we can connect to them using the above process. Before we shipped the server we tested the ability to connect using the \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx method. We could connect on the same flat network or to another DMZ locally. Now that the server is on the other side of a IPSEC vpn tunnel (Cisco) we cannot connect to it. Is there additional parameters that need to be enabled to allow this connection? Or is it even possible to do so at all. Thank you We resolved this issues by completing the following: In Windows 7, we enabled one of the inbound rules. The specific rule is "Netlogon Service (NP-In).Doing this allowed us to connect to the device using the UNC and the IP address format \\xxx.xxx.xxx. Thanks for the help

Hi, Try to temporary disable firewall and antivirus programs for test. Also disable IPv6 and enable NetBIOS over Tcp/IP. 1) Go to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections. 2) Right-Click on the connection and choose Properties. 3) Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Version 4 in the list. 4) Click Properties, and then click Advanced. 5) On the Advanced TCP/IP settings windows, go to WINS tab. 6) Under NetBIOS setting, click Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP, and then click OK.
