When a new user logs into a machine, they get 4 network printer queues installed/added
When a new user logs into a machine, they get 4 network printer queues installed/added Applies To: Windows | Windows 7 | Performance and Maintenance We have a computer lab with a large pool of users (~50000). The machines are running DeepFreeze to wipe out user data at power cycle. When a new user logs into a machine, they get 4 network printer queues installed/added. It takes a long time for the printers to get installed, and this process occurs for each new user. I tried to speed up the process by logging in with a service account before the users start logging in, and installed the printer drivers with that service account in hopes that after I have installed the printer driver once, the connection to the print queues will be very fast for the users. But it doesn't appear to have done much difference, it still takes over a minute to get the printers installed for each new user. I use the following method for printer installation cscript C:\Windows\System32\Printing_Admin_Scripts\en-US\prnmngr.vbs -ac -p "\\AD-SERVER\AD-LAB-BW" cscript C:\Windows\System32\Printing_Admin_Scripts\en-US\prnmngr.vbs -ac -p "\\AD-SERVER\AD-LAB-COLOR" etc. We used to do the printer deployment with a GPO, but that caused printer to be deployed before users could even see the desktop, so the users had to wait for 3 minutes after they would click the login button to where they could use the computer. At least now they can browse the web, open documents, etc while the printers are getting deployed. However, while the printers are getting installed, the system performance drops. Is there a way in Win7 to have the printer drivers installed permanently, so when users log in, they could just have a connection to the queue mapped without actual driver reinstall? Thanks!

No other better solutions for this. For several printers, if you just map the shared printer it may not work properly. Anyway you may give it a try. Use the command lines net use.
