Where are the Windows 7 Security Updates?
Have installed Windows 7 RTM (english version with the german language pack). But when checking for Windows Updates (we have a WSUS Server, but have the same behaviour when checking online for updates), there are no Windows 7 Updates available. But I can't imagine that Windows 7 does not need an update like MS09-037. But when checking the security bulletin MS09-037, Windows 7 is not mentioned.Any explications? Are Windows 7 RTM computers secure at this time, without any OS security updates?Thank you all in advance for any help.Franz

Windows machines are never secure , even if you have the latest updates or not, since Windows is the most popular OS and there is always a hole out there that hackers are figuring out how to use. I have seen the update (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms09-037.mspx) you mentioned in another thread. The update is for WMP versions 9-11 on win 2000 - Vista ; win7 has version 12 by default, which already has the fix. Since win7 is not affected, you don't need to install the update!!!! Since win7 is in the RTM stage right now, MS might not be making updates till win7 goes public (aka you can buy win7 off the store shelf).Hello! Hello Franz, Since Windows 7 RTM has not been officially released yet, only some TechNet subscribers can download the product from the website, please understand that there is no security update package available to Windows 7 RTM at the moment. You might wait for another period of time and try checking for update till 22nd Oct, 2009. Meanwhile, if you need to download some update package for Win7 OS manually in the future, please directly go to Microsoft Update Catalog. Thanks for your time and understanding! Andy
