Where is my network?
This is a fairly new Win7-64 Home Premium installation on a network with a PC running Vista 32 (wireless), a NAS (DS410 - LAN), several IP cameras (LAN), a wirelass access point for the Vista PC, a VOIP modem, several switches, a DirecTV HD, and a central router with an USB memory stick behind a cable modem. Almost everything seems to work just fine, except the "Network" only shows my Win7 PC and the USB stick and none of the other devices that are supposed to show and used to show: the Vista PC and the NAS. However, if I request \\name in Network, they dutifully show up and I can access them. So, why do they not show up automatically? Possibly related to that, the Laser printer attached to my Win7 PC does not show up (is not detected) now on the Vista PC either, i.e. the Vista PC shares the same problem. But when I switch my Win7 PC back to Vista everything is back to normal.
