i instal Norton Internet Security 2009 on Window 7 and i ca not set the ADVANCE PROTECTION.Everytime i try to set it "Error "3039,1" after you install a Norton 2009 Product" appear on the screen. What can i do to fix it? How can i get DRIVERS for thie AntiVirus? I need help.

I'm pretty sure Avast will install on Win7. Can't hurt to try and there is a very good free version available on their site. I can't seem to post a link here, so a search should get you there.

1st off there are no such thing as drivers you can get for an Anti-Virus app... Don't know why newbies think that... Norton is currently incompatible with win7. You are lucky to get your Norton install as far as you did without crashing the comp.Hello! B - Take your pick - here's a list of vendors that have gotten on the bandwagon and have at least tried to produce AV software that works with Windows 7.

There are a few including Kaspersky but, let's keep it simple. Certainly never mind Norton or AVG. (been there done that)Save yourself a lot of time & thought... go w/ Avast. I expected it would be ready for Windows 7 & was glad when Avast told me they were. I've always felt good about it; have used it myself for years & put it on many client machines I build. The new version of Kaspersky, Kaspersky 2010 (AntiVirus)seems to be working fine with it. Don't bother with their Tech Preview that they release, as this causes slow-downs (to a crawl) at various times.Andrew Macaulay

I have been using the beta of Microsoft Security Essentials. This has been working well as far as I can tell. It seems to use only a small amount of resource and has a good UI.

Yes, MSE could do the trick when it's public released (somewhat around the Windows 7 GA in October). It's VERY lightweight, easy to configure, has impressive recognition rates (either with fictitious or with real threats, I could experience both) and less false alerts than others. Norton Internet Security 2009 does have a problem with its' SONAR (Advanced Protection) but this is going to be a temporary clitch.It does not mean that you have no Anti-Virus Protection - As long as your Virus Definitions are up to date - They are updated every few minutes when on automatic update.You need to go into the settings and tell norton to ignore the SONAR (Advanced Protection). Then you may not receive so many Norton interuptions. When you click on "Settings" sometimes nothing happens - then after a few minutes when you are working on something interesting the "Settings" opens up. That's when you can take the opportunity to make sure that SONAR is "Ignored" and you can make sure other settings are ON such as "early load". After you have done all this make sure you have a complete system scan to be on the safe side.You will still get the occasional irritating message from Norton re: SONAR (Advanced Protection) has failed to load - Just ignore it and close the message.SONAR (Advanced Protection) is a program designed to look for virus-like activity - This is to give protection from viruses that are not yet known. These type of programs are not infallible they often mistake genuine software as viruses. So no great loss really, especially where virus definitions are updated every few minutes.Norton will have to make the changes for complete compatability soon, and it probably will not cost you anything, as you are already a valued customer.Hope this has been of some use to you.Yours ever, TLS

Runs very good without any problems and doesn't slows down the OS like some apps listedon Microsofts vendor list I agree with that.Avira's Free Antivir Home Edition is by far the best one I have tested.- Very lightweighht, no slowdown of the system- Very good (if not the best) detection capabilities- Very simple user-friendly user interface.I have been using it until I installed MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) beta.- Very much comparable with Antivir from AVira - extremely good program in every sense.- This is definitely the one that is going to stay on my computer.

hiI have tried most of the recommended av apps and the only ones I find resonable are Norton, Panda and the best of the bunch and the one I am running now is Microsoft Security Essentials. It runs a treat and uses hardly any resources. If you do try it remember to have windows updates turned on to automatic as this is the update path for MSE unlike windows onecare which used its own update path.malc
