While downloading Win7 Enterprise eval - felt threatened!
2011-06-15 The akamai download manager did its job, with some avoidable delays due to bad design. Look at Task Manager. Manager.exe has more than 233000 handles after 9 hours of operation. It collects handles at an average rate of 3 per second! It has more handles on every refresh of Task Manager, which happens every 2 seconds. This was on WinXP Prof SP3 with current patches. So this is the quality of software Microsoft recommends to its customers for Internet access? I'm REALLY worried! During even the most basic of quality check, such a software bug must be found within seconds.Harun

Hi, Does this issue only occur to akamai download manager? Have you tried to monitor this issue without running akamai download manager? I suggest you tried to boot into Clean Boot mode to test this issue: How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" state Meanwhile, due to this forum focuses on issues related to Windows 7, it is recommended to post to Windows XP forum: Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) Forum Thanks for your time and cooperation. This appears to be an issue of akamai download manager, likely to hit any Win-OS version. It is an issue of bad apps being digitally signed, making all that signing futile and dangerous, because it provides an absolutely unwarranted feeling of safety. It was not my completely free will to use a.d.m., but the strong suggestion of Microsoft's website. I searched some time before posting it here, because I found no better matching forum, and no contact for direct feedback. Win7 is still current product, enforces more dig sign than XP. So I feel it is not too off-topic. You can do me a favor by forwarding this to responsible person at Microsoft.Harun
