Is the Tab missing from the Power Options Properties Page, or do you mean when you click turn off computer you do not see a Hibernate option. If it is the missing Hibernate option you must point to Standby and hold the Shift Key down and you will see Hibernate. Also, if this is the case and you want that option back you will have to install the missing software you had before. What make is your computer? If the Tab is missing from the Power Options page it is because you have not installed your video card driver yet or you have not yet installed SP3.

If your Stand By and or Hibernate buttons on the Turn Off Computer menu are missing, greyed out or inactive:You may also find that clicking Start, Settings, Control Panel, Power Options - the Hibernate tab is missing. What is your situation with the Hibernate tab?If you find the Hibernate tab in Power Options, make sure the Enable hibernation option in enabled. When everything is enabled, pressing the Shift key on the Turn Off Computer menu will change the Stand By button into a Hibernate button. After you make any adjustments, reboot your system to be sure the changes "stick".If it appears the options are just missing or unavailable and you are still having Hibernation issues, do this:Usually, and easy to check, is the video drivers for your system that should be downloaded from your manufacturers World Wide Web site. Download the correct (current) video drivers for your graphics adapter, install the correct video drivers, reboot your system, then test.If you can't figure out if your video drivers are correct, how to get to the manufacturers World Wide Web site, or how to figure out what to do next, perhaps we can look it up for you if you provide more information. What is your system make and model? What is your XP version and Service Pack? There are Hibernation fixes in Service Pack 3, so if you are not on SP3, you need to be.If you are not sure about what you have, do this:Click Start, Run and in the box enter:msinfo32Click OK, and when the System Summary info appears, click Edit, Select All, Copy and then paste back here. For video driver information, expand the Components, click Display, click Edit, Select All, Copy and then paste the information back here. There will be some personal information (like System Name and User Name), and whatever appears to be private information to you, just delete it.This will minimize back and forth Q&A and eliminate guesswork and assumptions. When you get it working, you can also add a Hibernate button to your Turn Off Computer menu so the Turn Off Computer menu has 4 options:Hibernate, Stand By, Turn Off, Restart. This will save you an extra keyboard stoke (you won't have to press the Shift key to invoke Hibernation).Do, or do not. There is no try.I need YOUR votes and points for helpful replies and Propose as Answers. I am saving up for a pony!
