Why whs 2011 installation gets blocked at copying Windows files on the HDD ?
I am trying to install WHS 2011 OEM software on an HP EX470. I have tried about 30 times both unattended and attended installations over last 4 months and am very frustrated that I cannot succeed and buying the software has been a waste of money and time. I have tried 4 HDDs, duly formatted, of capacities 250 GB to 2 TB. EX470 has the original AMD 1620 processor and 2 GB upgraded RAM and qualifies for upgrade to a 64bit system. Problem with attended install attempts: Installation says "Copying Windows files", but after waiting a variable time in hours, the progress remains 0% and finally says "Error in installation. Try restarting installation". Same thing happens with using the DVD or using a Sandisk Cruser formatted and made bootable 16GB flash drive with a cfg.ini file as instructed online and also tried without the cfg.ini file. Problem with unattended install attempts: Completely blind process. Does not install even if left for 24 hrs. Cannot decipher the blinking lights on the Flash drive and eventually, no installation or evidence of partial installation is seen on checking the hard drive on another computer. I guess the same thing happens as the attended install attempts. Searched for solutions online for the last 4 months, but no one mentions the problem of Windows not copying files to the HDD during installation and what is going wrong. HELP!!!
