Win7 (64-bit) RDP protocol error
Initial conditions: I install a certificate for SBS 2008 Remote Web Workplace on a new 64-bit Win7 machine that is fully patched. The certificate has been installed on an XP machine and verified to work. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium on
an HP P6649C, AMD IIX4635 processor 2.90 GHz, w/6 GB RAM.
1) I can log onto the Remote Web Workplace without problem. I can "go to the internal website" and "Check email" through exchange without problems.
2) When I select the "Connect to a computer" option to log on to my client computer on the SBS 2008 local network, I get the following error: "The wizard cannot configure Remote Desktop Connection settings. Make sure that the client version of Remote
Desktop Protocol (RDP) 6.0 or later is installed on this computer."
3)When I search the various MS websites, I find lots of support for WinXP but none for Win7. I don't know how to check what RDP version is installed on my machine nor can I find any Win7-related downloads for RDP protocol. Since the machine is
new, I would hope it has at least version 6.0.
I appreciate your help.
Additional information (2/2/2011): An examination of the registry shows the following key set thus:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer\WinStations\RDP-Tcp\WdName
value set to "Microsoft RDP 6.1"

Problem solved; solution found in a Small Business Server forum at this URL:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/smallbusinessserver/thread/94fe3bde-f372-4705-8c11-ab1160fdad87
The fix is to add the SBS URL to IE Trusted Sites.
