Win7 IE8 and Adobe Reader 9.1
Cannot get PDF file readout on IE8, I get a box with a question mark in it and an OK box. There is no other writing in the box. If I download the PDF file onto my computer I can read it just fine. Is this a compatibility issue with IE8?

it happens with me too. i blame adobe software since they are not really fast with providing windpws 7 software compatiable. you need to hit okay on that white box and re-open the same file again in the same ie8 page. it will work fineIt's all about Windows.

If you go to Adobe's download site for Adobe Reader and it detects your OS as Windows NT, select "different language or operating system" directly underneath the download button and select the version for Vista, works great on 3 different systems for me..

Happens to me too occasionally with Firefox 3.0.10. I was sure to download the Vista version of Acrobat Reader. I'm guessing it's a bug with Adobe.

I downloaded the latest Acrobat Reader, but I still have this problem. Perhaps a cleaning of the registry should be performed before reinstalling the Reader. With Safari and Firefox I don't have the problem, so it must be related to IE8.

Change the internet settings in Adobe Reader so that the pdf opens in it's own window and not in IE.EditPreferencesInternetuncheck "Display PDF in browser".
