I have Win 7 op, how do I back up system if computer crashs, also how do i know what explorer I'm running.

Backup your system BEFORE it crashes, please. In addition to native backup that Carey suggested, you can use third party solutions. Some SSD disk vendors sell packages that contain Acronis (upgrade package from Kingston, HyperX 240GB). Symantec Ghost is another alternative. Native version of IE in Windows 7 is IE 8. After upgrade that windows update offers the version is IE 9. The look of IE 9 is different from IE 8 (left upper corner).
