I have 7 on my portables and 8 on my workbox and server 2008r2 as my server. Moving hundreds of GB has not been a problem as I have been moving files around a lot. Wireless performance can be a problem, using Gb networking can keep up with even the faster disks reasonably well. 10 Gb is coming down in price but it may be a few more years before it becomes built-in on motherboards Windows MVP 2011-12, XP, Vista, 7 and 8.
