Win 7 access via an XP/Vista based home network
My Win 7 Professional computers 'see' the rest of the network just fine. And, I can 'see' the Windows 7 computers from my XP/Vista workstations, as well...I just can't access them. I keep getting a request box fo a login and password. None
of the workstations on the network have any passwords or logins....There would be a revolution in this house if I did.
One would think that after 3 years, Microsoft would have come up with a fix for this issue. No wonder why so many network professional dislike Windows 7 so much.
Is there a simple fix to this Microsoft shortcoming? (I have done everything I can see..all workstations are on the same workgroup, all sharing passwords are turned off, (In the Windows 7 computer..I have done everything I have read, to do to make
the 7 workstation compatible on the network. So far..nothing.
Thanks in advance,
MC

Hi,
To temporarily disable the firewall on Windows 7. Could you ping to the Windows 7 from the XP/Vista?
Meanwhile, you may add an accunt on the Windows 7, to manage the credentials on the XP/Vista client and add this account.

Network professionals would not be running computers with no usernames or passwords! Simple file sharing (ie file sharing on a network where machines do not have passwords) is a different ball game from normal Windows file sharing. It was introduced in XP
and is not fully supported in Windows 7 because of added security.
This has been discussed in the forums in the past and it is not easy to get around. Google "simple file sharing windows 7 xp" should give you something to go on.

i think it's window 7 group policy.
in local group policy
in search - type gpedit.msc
Local Computer Policy->Computer Configuration->Windows Settings->Security Settings->Local Policies->Security Options
find
Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (always)
if it is enabled, please disable and try it.
