Win 7 comes out of sleep not fully awake.
About half the time when my Win 7 wakes from sleep IE 8 will not connect to the Internet until I do a restart. Is that something I might be able to fix or will I have to wait for the programming whizzes to do an update fix?

Hi meamjw, Please perform the steps below and see if the issue can be resolved: 1. Please go to Start, type Device Manager in the Search box and then press Enter. 2. Expand "Network adapters". 3. Right click the network adapter and then click "Properties". 4. Click on the "Power Management" tab. 5. Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". 6. Click OK. Please check if the issue can be resolved. If the issue persists, please check if the network adapter driver is compatible with Windows 7. Regards, Linda

Hi meamjw, when you are connected to a network and when your Windows 7 goes to sleep or hibernates and resumes back, your network connections will be automatically disabled and you will not be able to enable it unless you restart it. It occurs because by default WIndows 7 tries to save power from our computer by turning off the device. you can disable this option by doing the followingIn the Network and Sharing Center click on Change Adapter Settings link. Right click on the Wireless Adapter and select Properties, click on the Configure button which you will find just under your wireless device name. This will open up a new Window which will have five tabs of which the last one will be Power Management. Uncheck the option Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power and click Ok.I hope the above helps you to solve your problemAkfash Latibu http://akfash.wordpress.com http://technetbrunei.net/blogs/akfash

I want to thank both Akfash and Linda.I turned off the power saving feature, but it didn't help. I then installed new NVIDIA driver; didn't help either. Then I downloaded and tried to install a firmware update from Linksys, but it came as a .bin file and I can't get it openso Ihave no idea what to do with it. Just got off a brief chat with a Linksys agent and was told that my router is out of warranty so they can't help me unless I want to pay. I told him no thanks. My opinion of Linksys is now zero. They just throw a customer some code and say, "Here it is. Now you figure out how to use it."Do you guys think the router firmware might be the problem? If you do, can you tell me how to get it where it needs to be? I wasn't having this problem until I upgraded from Vista to Win 7

Linksys has instructions on their website. Meanwhile you can visit your Router Admin Page, at http://192.168.1.1/and follow the Firmware Update instructions. It may make no difference since Windows 7 has some sleep issues.Enter "Sleep" in the Forum search box to see what other have found.
