OK, I know everyone's dealt with one of these along the line, and I thought I had these dang printers figured out completely, but this one is a flat out freak, and anyone who can help, I appreciate it. Working in an environment with several new Dell Desktops (Precision T3500s) with Win7 x64 installed on them. They have an old HP LaserJet 5si on the network. Several of the Win7 computers on the network are already connected to it by the private IP, and they work. I just installed a new client, and trying to install to the printer by IP, can't find the driver. Look on HP's site for Win7 x64, and they say "it's already installed on Win7, we're not giving you a driver". Well, it's not installed on Win7 x64, not when I try to navigate to it when installing the printer, there is no "LaserJet 5si" listed. Weird thing is, when I look at the other computers, and RE-Install that same printer, I CAN find the "LaserJet 5si" printer listed. OK, so I must not have all the updates on my new computer, right? YES I DO, WINDOWS UPDATE TELLS ME IT'S ALL UP TO DATE. WTF??? Thanks in advance.
